Uterine Fibroid or Polyp? Ever Wondered What they 'Look' Like?

Check out this amazing 'life-like' computerized graphic video of fibroids from simulated Myosure procedure!

Uterine fibroids are benign tumors of the uterine muscle.  They range in size, symptoms, and location, leading to common symptoms of heavy (abnormal) menstrual periods and/or pain/cramping.  Though common in occurence (some studies report upto 70-80% of women may have fibroids by age 50,) symptoms may vary in intensity with some women experiencing severe symptoms while others may experience very little symptoms at all.

If fibroids are located in the inner uterine cavity (called submucosal,) hysteroscopy-a camera placed within the uterine cavity-may be recommended to evaluate or treat the fibroid.  Myosure is one such (operative) hysteroscopy device.  Hologic, the makers of Myosure, just released a computerized simulator by VirtaMed, for training purposes.  I was recently able to 'test' this simulator, and was quite Amazed by the 'life-like' visual graphics of the inner uterine cavity and of a fibroid/polyp!

If you're interesed is seeing a 'virtually' real image of the inner uterine cavity and fibroid/polyp resection...Check out this video:
